Being able to tell if someone is lying is used as an asset in many court rooms or investigation rooms by specialist such as court analysts, or pathologists. These specialists look at more than just eye contact or fidgeting; it is all about the big picture.
How can they tell? Here are some ways you can tell if someone is lying:
There are many ways to tell if someone may be lying to you. One way is by the eye movement of the person lying. This person may look off to the left or right, “searching” for the answers. That’s not the only eye movement to look for; one may give too much or too little eye contact, trying to seem as if they are telling the truth. Another way is if the person begins to sweat or tremble abnormally. This gives the impression of nervousness in that person. More telltale signs of a liar are if his or her body becomes stiff while they are telling the lie. This means that they are so focused on making the lie seem as if it were the truth, they have forgotten to look calm and collected. Another way to detect a liar is to watch for fidgeting or hand movements. Hand movements can include exaggerated hand gestures or the covering of one’s mouth while speaking the lie.
Remember that these are not always true; they may vary between different people. Also, remember not to accuse some one of lying because he or she shows one sign. It is all about the big picture; they must show more than one sign, and even then these are not 100% accurate.
Usually, if you think someone is lying to you, they probably are.
